H-CALM is an interdisciplinary, inter-university research team that is part of a larger Training and Human Resources Development Project (THRDP) situated at McGill University (funded by Santé Canada; THRDP Director: Prof. Carmen Lambert, McGill). The THRDP is principally focused on providing language training for personnel in Québec's health sector. The H-CALM research team aims to provide evidence-based information relevant to the language training goals of the THRDP and to obtain new evidence on questions regarding the delivery of health care to linguistic minorities.
The members of H-CALM are: Norman Segalowitz (Psychology, Concordia University; H-CALM's Principal Investigator), Antonia Arnaert (Nursing, McGill University), Henrietta Cedergren (Département de linguistique et de didactique des langues, Université du Québec à Montréal), Elizabeth Gatbonton (TESL-Applied Linguistics/Education, Concordia University), Eva Kehayia (School of Occupational Therapy, McGill University), Michel D. Laurier (Département d'études en éducation et d'administration de l'éducation, Université de Montréal), Pavel Trofimovich (TESL-Applied Linguistics/Education, Concordia University), and Carolyn E. Turner (Integrated Studies in Education, McGill University). Also working closely with the H-CALM team are Prof. Patricia Lamarre (Didactique, Université de Montréal) and Dr. Jo Ann Levesque (Director of Research, Faculty of Arts, McGill University). The Research Coordinator for the project is Maia Yarymowich.
