On Thursday, November 17th, 2005, the CSLP held their fifth biennial Research and Technology Fair. The day began with Theme Leader presentations held in the DeSeve Theatre. Each of the eight CSLP Theme Leaders provided an overview of their theme area, and a summary of the goals and research questions they hoped to address in the coming year. This event, attended by CSLP members, Concordia administrators, CSLP partners, and the general public, helped to set the stage for the exhibits presented at the Fair.

Welcoming words from Vice Provost Dr. Truong Vo-Van commenced the Fair, held in the Atrium of the J.W. McConnell Building. The Fair exhibited more than 50 current education-related research projects and demonstrations on such topics as: the design, development and use of electronic portfolio software, early reading programs, and other technology-based projects in Quebec English schools; computer-mediated communication and distance education; the role of attention in the acquisition of second language; expertise in musical performance, attitudes towards students with disabilities; factors that influence the success and perseverance in science programs in English CEGEPs; the Canadian Network for Knowledge Utilization (CanKnow); and many more. In addition, teachers and students from the CSLP partner school John F. Kennedy High School were on hand to display their technology-based classroom projects.

This Fair provided an excellent opportunity to view, first-hand, the innovative educational research and development projects within our centre.
