ETEConnections aims to serve two distinct populations of the Educational Technology program: 1) current students and 2) alumni of the Diploma, Master of Arts and Doctorate programs.

Current students of the Educational Technology program often do not have a good grasp of the full range of career opportunities in the field. One way of addressing such concerns is by featuring alumni of the Educational Technology program describing their professional experiences (corporate, non-corporate, academic). Through first-person accounts and other features in ETEConnections, we hope to instill an appreciation for the discipline and practice of Educational Technology.

Earning a degree in Educational Technology means membership into a unique and thriving community of Concordia alumni. The current number of Educational Technology alumni already total approximately 500. This network is expected to grow at an exponential rate with every passing year. Although Concordia University has a large Educational Technology alumni community throughout the world, there is no formal network that brings everyone together. Receiving issues of ETEConnections will allow past students of the program to track friends from over the years and perhaps establish new working relationships based on common interests.

ETEConnections is a volunteer, student-led initiative. Its success depends largely on the interest, enthusiasm and involvement of alumni and current students of the ETEC program. The Department of Education has also contributed to the success of the newsletter in the forms of donated server space and cooperation from faculty and staff.
