About the Symposium

The Student Symposium is an annual event organized by students in the Department of Education at Concordia University, in Montreal. The Symposium provides an opportunity for education students to gain experience presenting at a conference and learn more about what their peers are doing. This sharing of ideas and experiences about the research, design, and practice of education  takes place in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere.

The theme is this year's symposium is Building Bridges: Linking Learners. It is an invitation to explore ways in which communities of learners can be brought together by respecting and acknowledging differences while celebrating similarities.

The symposium will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 2nd and 3rd, 2001 and will be organized around a variety of sub-themes, including:

  • HPT/Instructional Design
  • Distance Education
  • Literacy and culture
  • Educational Development and Policy
  • Educational Psychology
  • Educational Technology
  • Global/Multicultural Education

Possible modes of presentation include:

  1. Report on completed research or work in progress (theses, papers, projects)
  2. Show and tell (educational games, special projects)
  3. Panel discussions with facilitator (faculty member)
  4. Technarium (hands-on presentation of websites, CD-ROMs, etc.)

One person can participate in a maximum of 2 of the above (for example, one paper and one panel discussion)

Please submit your abstract as soon as possible!
